Good Enough Today, Better Tomorrow
I offer meaningful, relationship-centered individual therapy services
Performing & Overcontrol
Since the constant drive for “better” can do us harm, I value holding space for healing. I believe healing often comes from a balance of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, meaningful connection, compassion, authenticity, and vulnerability. We will work together to understand you and move you towards your healing goals.
Through my experiences as a college student-athlete, a doctoral student, and working within “elite” athletics I felt the pull to have to be the best. And from these experiences, along with being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, I also learned that this expectation is unsustainable. Whether you are trying to be the best student, athlete, parent, partner, or other roles central to you in your life, it is my goal to empower those I work with to find sustainability in their drive for “better” through self compassion, vulnerability, and authenticity.

About Me
Hi! I’m Dr. Sam Davis (He/Him), owner of SRD Counseling and Consultation, PLLC. I am dually licensed by the Colorado State Board of Psychologist Examiners and the State of Ohio Board of Psychology to provide psychological services in the states of Colorado and Ohio. Additionally, I am credentialed with PSYPACT (Mobility # 23747) to provide telemental health services to people in 43 (soon to be more!) states in the United States. I received my PhD in Counseling Psychology from Colorado State University in 2023. I completed my doctoral internship at Oregon State University Counseling and Psychological Services with an area of emphasis in sport psychology, and completed my post-doctoral fellowship with the Ohio State University Sport Psychology and Wellness Services. I worked with Ohio State University athletics for two-and-a-half years, before transitioning to a general community setting. I am currently based in Fort Collins, CO.
I consider therapy to be about creating a space for healing, where we collaborate to understand your feelings, patterns of thoughts and behaviors, what may have led you to develop those patterns, and what skills may help you meaningfully address your concerns. I am integrative, meaning that I pull from many different therapeutic styles to best meet the individual and unique needs of each person I support. I most often use modalities like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Self Compassion, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I warmly welcome supporting people who hold many different identities and, in particular, people who feel pressure and expectation to “perform,” and show up at the highest level for others. I am grateful for your consideration and hopeful to play a role in your healing journey.
